Coastal Run in East Kent
The Thanet Coastal event takes place along the coastline of East Kent, starting and finishing at Palm Bay School in Margate. The course follows much of the historical Alan Green route, offering views of the sea and the North Kent coastline. The terrain is primarily flat with some inclines on the return leg, and the surface includes both paved paths and sections of grass at the start and finish areas.
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 10 miles (minimum age 17)
- 5 miles (minimum age 15)
The event features a live results feed, allowing runners to view their times immediately after crossing the finish line. Every finisher receives a commemorative medal. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as winners in the Veteran 40, 50, and 60 age categories.
The venue at Palm Bay School provides several facilities for participants, including a baggage drop, toilets, and refreshment stations. Indoor registration is available, which provides shelter during the winter season. Music and commentary are provided at the event hub to support the atmosphere. Advanced registration is available until the Wednesday before the event, with potential on-the-day entries depending on remaining capacity.
