Wild Hare Trail Race
Wild Hare Trail Race is held at Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda, Texas, on private ranch land near Giddings, La Grange, Bastrop and Brenham. The event uses a roughly 7.8 mile loop that mixes open fields, short climbs and descents, and mountain-bike style twists and turns. Bathrooms and showers are available at the start area.
Distances:
- 50 miles
- 50K
- 25K
- 10K
- Youth 1 mile
Course and logistics: the 50 mile distance begins with a modified first lap of about 11 miles, then repeats full 7.8 mile loops; the 50K runs four full loops, the 25K two full loops, and the 10K one loop with a short cut. Aid station support is provided at the Start/Finish and at a Midway Aid Station located about 3.5 miles into the lap. Organizers do not provide formal drop bag service, but participants may leave supplies near the Midway Aid Station or around the Start/Finish area.
Race operations: the course is extensively marked with caution tape, arrow signs, and confidence markers, and many markings include reflectors for low-light visibility. The event is cupless; runners must bring a cup or bottle, though collapsible cups may be sold at packet pickup. All distances are chip timed with ankle-mounted chips. Pacers are permitted under event rules for the longer distances and must register and follow station rules.
Youth and family: a one-mile youth trail run is untimed and includes a bib and finisher medal. Registrants 19 and under receive an automatic registration discount for races of 10 miles and shorter. Camping and some RV sites are available at the ranch, with a limited number of onsite BnBs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
