Hells Hills Trail Race is a multi-distance trail event held at Rocky Hill Ranch in Smithville, Texas, near Bastrop and Austin. Distances offered include:
- 50 mile
- 50K
- 25K
- 10K
- 25K Ruck
- 10K Ruck
- Youth 1 mile
The course is mostly single-track with short, steep hills and frequent rolling ups and downs. Runners encounter bridges, stream crossings, pine trees and fields of wildflowers. Route details note loop lengths and lap counts for each distance. The organizer provides strong course markings, on-course support, multiple aid stations and a start/finish hub called the Saloon. Aid appears roughly every 2.8 to 4.5 miles and includes two full aid stations plus a self-support station; an additional temporary station may serve the 10K loop.
This event is cupless; participants must carry a water bottle and collapsible cup to use aid stations. Collapsible cups will be available for purchase at packet pickup for $7 cash or Venmo, and later at the merch tent by card. All races are chip timed with ankle chips. Pacers, ruck rules, awards, camping onsite and a youth untimed one mile race with finisher medals are part of the event program.
