The Why Not Tri
The Why Not Tri is a community triathlon held in Palmer, Alaska at 1170 W. Bogard Rd. The event in June 2026 includes adult solo and team relay races, a kids race for ages 6 to 12, and a virtual solo option.
Distances for the main races include:
- 11.84 miles - 400 yard swim, 8.5 mile bike, 5K run
- 4.1 miles - 100 yard swim, 3 mile bike, 1 mile run
Registration opened on January 15, 2026. Deadlines vary by event: March 16, 2026 for the adult solo and relay entries, and May 16, 2026 for the kids race and virtual solo. Published entry fees are $65 for the adult solo and virtual solo, $110 for a two-member relay, $160 for a three-member relay, and $40 for the kids race.
The event was established to promote healthy lifestyles and to introduce triathlon to the local community.
