The First Howl: Trails & Nog : Crevasse Moraine, Palmer AK
The event combines winter trail loops with a festive Nog Mile at the Crevasse Moraine trailhead in Palmer, Alaska on 01/01/2027. Runners choosing the trail option have three hours to complete three separate loops on the Crevasse Moraine trail system: a 5 mile loop, a 3 mile loop, and a 1 mile loop. At bib pick up each participant draws cards to determine the order of their loops.
At the halfway point of each loop runners must locate a hidden book, remove the page that matches their bib number, and return that page to the race director when they complete the loop. The first male and female runners to complete all three loops and turn in the three pages are the trail winners.
The Nog Mile is a timed one-mile event consisting of four 1/4 mile laps. At the start of each lap participants drink an 8 oz serving of eggnog at the pavilion before running the next quarter mile. The fastest male and female runners to complete four laps without vomiting are the Nog winners. Eggnog will be provided and additional donations of eggnog are welcome.
Registration options match the event formats: Trails & Nog, Trails ONLY, and Nog ONLY. Runners under 14 must be accompanied by a registered adult for the duration of the race.
