The Krrbrrr
The Krrbrrr, formally the Knik River Break-Up Ramble Run, is a low-key trail running event held near 17704 Sullivan Ave, Palmer, AK. The event is in its ninth year and uses an open format that lets participants run for as little as one hour or for the full eight hour window.
Distance options include repeated loops on marked trails. Participants may complete as many loops as they choose within the event period.
- Approx. 5 mile loop
- Optional 2.5 mile loop
- Run as many loops as desired within the eight hour period
The course presents a mix of terrain: flat, steep, rolling, wide, double-wide, and single-track trails. Conditions frequently include slush, slop, mud, ice, horse manure, thorns, and exposed roots; the course also offers scenic views. Event information notes a very casual, unpolished atmosphere rather than extensive on-course services.
Sign-ups after March 11 are not guaranteed a shirt. Registration closes March 28. A portion of event proceeds will be donated to the Mat-Su Sentinel, a nonprofit community news website.
The description emphasizes a flexible, self-directed trail experience with varied footing and unpredictable trail conditions rather than a highly supported, catered race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
