The Wacky Dash 5K at Lake Wilderness Park
The Wacky Dash is a community 5K at Lake Wilderness Park in Maple Valley that combines a run or walk with family oriented activities and a business expo. The course starts and ends in the park and follows the Lake Wilderness Trail through the arboretum on an out and back route.
Registration is offered in several periods with different fees: early registration through July 1, a mid period through July 18, and late or race day registration through August 1. Fee examples given by the organizer include adult and youth pricing and note that kids aged 4 and under are free. A small handling fee applies to all registrations. T-shirts are included for some youth registrations and T-shirts are only guaranteed for registrations completed by July 18. Pre-race packet pick up is scheduled for July 31 with the location to be determined.
The event is not chip timed and emphasizes informal timing rather than official finish times. Along the course there are wacky activities, sponsor stops, and community elements. At the finish area there are family features such as a foam finish for children and a Royal Flush photo booth. Strollers are welcome on the trail; dogs are not permitted on the course. After the run, a family friendly Wacky Business Bash showcases local businesses, community organizations, activities, and giveaways. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Maple Valley–Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
