Christmas Rush Fun Run and Walk
The Christmas Rush is a community run and walk held in Kent with organized 10K and 5K distances. The event uses riverfront and neighborhood roads near Hogan Park and follows clockwise courses where participants are asked to stay to the left.
- 10K run
- 5K run/walk
The 10K uses a new clockwise route that begins on 240th, proceeds south on Russell Road, west on Meeker, crosses the bridge, continues north on Frager Road, crosses a pedestrian bridge into Van Doren's Landing Park, then returns along the east side of the river to the start/finish area. The 5K is a modified out-and-back that follows 240th to Meeker, crosses the bridge to Frager Road, returns over a foot bridge to the riverside trail, and finishes at the same start area.
Registration opens in October. Standard entry fees are listed as $20 and $35 with a shirt; shirts must be ordered by Thursday, November 12 at 11:59 p.m. Day-of-race registration is $25 and no shirts are available on race day. Participants 13 and under run free courtesy of Taylor Farms.
Awards are given for each age group after the race. Dogs are not allowed on the course; strollers are permitted but should be positioned appropriately at the start. If the race is canceled for reasons beyond the organizer's control, registration fees may not be refunded but transfers to a future Kent Parks Department race will be considered.
