The Ultra Loop : Temple Newsam, Leeds
The Ultra Loop is an inclusive, timed running event that gives each participant a finishing time and a medal. The challenge runs for a fixed period of 8 hours during which runners complete as many 5 km loops as they can. Any lap not finished before the 8 hour cut-off is not included in the final results.
The course is a mixed-terrain 5 km loop through Temple Newsam Park. Surfaces include woodland trail, gravel paths and park road, and the route passes The Avenue with views of Temple Newsam House. Total elevation is listed as 88 m (288 ft). The course is not closed to the public, so walkers and dog walkers may be present.
There is a single start/finish line that also serves as the lap timing line. Results show the number of laps completed, total distance and elapsed time. The event maintains a results leaderboard and records, although the organiser notes the event is not treated as competitive.
Facilities are centred at the start/finish area. The aid station provides water, fruit, sweet and savoury snacks, energy bars and electrolytes from the event sponsor VOOM. Participants are asked to bring their own bottles; cups are not provided. A bag drop is available throughout the day and portaloos are located at the aid station.
Age rules: under 12s are not permitted; entrants aged 12 to 15 must have a parent or guardian contact the organiser and attend the event. Race bibs and chip timing ankle straps are collected at registration on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
