The Ultra Loop - Temple Newsam
The Ultra Loop is an eight hour running event held at Temple Newsam Park in Leeds, LS15 0AD. Participants run repeated laps of a measured loop and aim to complete as many 5 km circuits as they can within the time limit. Each finish is recorded with a finishing time and medal, and final results show laps completed, total distance and elapsed time. The event maintains a results leaderboard and records for the course.
The loop is mixed terrain, combining woodland trail, gravel paths and park road, with a total elevation gain of 88 m (288 ft). The route starts in the estate and passes through woodlands and The Avenue, offering views of Temple Newsam House. The course is not closed to the public, so runners may encounter walkers and dog walkers.
The start/finish line is also the lap timing point and the single aid station. The aid station provides water, fruit, sweet and savoury snacks, energy bars and electrolyte drinks from the event sponsor VOOM. Runners are asked to bring their own bottles for refilling because cups are not provided. A bag drop is available throughout the day and portaloos are provided near the aid station. Race numbers and chip timing ankle straps are collected at registration on the morning of the event.
Entry fee for the event is £34. Participants under 12 are not permitted; those aged 12 to 15 require a parent or guardian to arrange their place and to attend the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
