The Ultra Bird 12hr Trail Race and RUCK Challenge
The Ultra Bird event is a day of timed trail running and rucking at Pigeon Creek County Park in West Olive, Michigan. The event supports the Egress Endurance Project, a nonprofit that works with people in recovery through outdoor movement and structured endurance activities.
Event options include:
- 12-Hour Trail Race: run as many miles as possible within twelve hours
- 6-Hour Trail Race: timed endurance race on singletrack
- 10K Trail Race: out-and-back or loop trail running on marked course
- 5K Trail Race: short trail race on wooded terrain
- 6-Hour RUCK Challenge: carry a minimum 20 lb ruck or weighted vest
- 3-Hour RUCK Challenge: shorter weighted endurance option
Course and logistics
All races use an approximately 5K loop near the Pigeon Creek Ski Lodge with rolling terrain, wooded trails, and peak fall color. Elevation gain is about 165 feet per loop, with one larger steady climb and a significant downhill. The looped format allows frequent aid station access and opportunities for crew and spectators to support participants.
Onsite amenities include parking within walking distance, an aid station at the start/finish, a drop bag area, prepackaged trail food and hydration, and restroom facilities. Pacers are allowed for the 12 hour and 6 hour events. The park remains open to the public during the event and trails will be marked for participants.
Race policies note that entries are nonrefundable and bib transfers between participants or other events are permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
