The Ultra Bird Trail Races & RUCK Challenge

The Ultra Bird Trail Races & RUCK Challenge is a fall trail event at Pigeon Creek County Park in West Olive, Michigan, held on October 10, 2026. The event benefits the Egress Endurance Project, a nonprofit that supports people recovering from addiction through outdoor endurance activities.

Races use a looped course of about 5K with rolling terrain, wooded trails, and seasonal fall color. Elevation gain is roughly 165 feet per loop, featuring one larger steady climb and a pronounced downhill. The loop format provides frequent aid station access and easy crew support; the start and finish are at the Pigeon Creek Ski Lodge.

Ruck participants are encouraged to carry 10–20 pounds but weight is self-reported and there is no formal weigh-in. All ruck finishers receive a patch and a finisher medal. Pacers are allowed in the 12- and 6-hour events. On-site amenities include parking within walking distance, an aid station and drop-bag area at the lodge, pre-packaged food and hydration, restroom facilities in the lodge, and a first-come, first-served area for personal tents and aid stations near the start/finish.
