About the race
The Two Bays Trail Run is a trail race on Magnetic Island held on 23 May 2026. Race headquarters is at the Magnetic Island State School sports oval in Nelly Bay and the courses finish at the Arcadia Village Hotel pub in Arcadia.
The event offers three clearly marked distances with marshals and signage at junctions:
- 6 km
- 12 km
- 21 km
All courses start in Nelly Bay and follow technical single track that climbs out of Nelly Bay, traverses ridge lines and offers coastal views over Horseshoe Bay. The 21 km route includes beach sections and a larger loop around Horseshoe Bay. Trails include steep sections, steps and narrow winding track; competitors are advised to carry sufficient food and water because trail running times are longer than road times.
Sign in and bib collection take place at Race HQ and competitors must fill the emergency contact details on the back of their bib. Entry includes electronic timing with a timing chip to keep, course marshals, first aid support, on-course photography, post race hydration and a fruit buffet. A bag transfer service to the finish line is available.
Mandatory gear is required for the 12 km and 21 km events and will be checked at sign in. Required items include two compression bandages, a fully charged phone, a whistle, an emergency blanket and sufficient hydration and nutrition. 21 km runners must also carry a head torch. Event officials may short course or withdraw runners for safety reasons. SeaLink is the travel sponsor offering discounted return fares for the event weekend.
