Run Army Townsville
Run Army Townsville is a community running event in Jezzine Barracks and along The Strand in North Ward, Townsville, held on Sun 18 Apr 2027. The event offers multiple distances and a virtual option for participants who cannot attend in person.
Distances include:
- 2.4 km Junior Dash
- 5 km run or walk
- 10 km run
- 15 km Chief’s Challenge
The event features a race village at Jezzine Barracks and on-course support such as aid stations, recovery drinks and fruit. The Royal Australian Artillery will appear on course with two M777A2 lightweight towed howitzers, and interactive displays from emergency services and community partners will be available during the event. Course partners provide encouragement and practical support along the route.
Entries include a limited edition Run Army T-shirt, a finisher’s medal, fundraising page setup with a $5 donation, sponsor offers, and base insurance. Official results use timing chips and live tracking, with age category rankings for the 5 km and 10 km events. Podium medals are awarded in several categories including overall and age groups for selected distances; 2.4 km participants receive a finisher medal and timed results.
Event access notes: children under nine must be supported by an adult; prams and wheelchairs are permitted with guidance; well behaved dogs on short leads are allowed starting near the back of the field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
