Castle Hill Trail Run
The Castle Hill Trail Run is an outdoor trail running event held on Castle Hill in Townsville with Race HQ at Belgian Gardens State School, 43 Potts Street. The event is part of a local trail run series and takes place on a single hill that features city and coastal views.
The courses use single-track trails with flowy sections, steep climbs, technical descents, stairs and exposed rock scramble sections. The terrain is generally dry and rocky; trail shoes with good grip are recommended. The course is fully marked and marshalled at significant turns.
Distances
- 3 km - Scramble, short course for beginners and kids with rock scrambles
- 7 km - Scurry, mid distance with technical descents and stair climbs
- 10 km - Slog, longer route including the full ascent and exposed scramble sections
Entries include an electronic timing chip on a race bib, on-course marshals, first aid support, one water point on course and post-race hydration and fruit. Competitors should note there are no cups at on-course water stations and the 10 km requires carrying a minimum of 500 ml of water. Toilets and some food and coffee services are available at Race HQ. Registration is required in advance as there is no on-the-day registration. Participants who do not finish must report to an event official.
