The Turbine Backyard Ultra : event summary
The Turbine Backyard Ultra is scheduled for Saturday 18th September 2027 at West Shields Farm, Satley, near Tow Law. The race follows the Backyard Ultra format: competitors must complete a 4.1 mile loop each hour and return to the start area before the bell to continue. The event continues hour after hour until only one runner remains uneliminated.
The course is not flat and contains approximately 400 ft of elevation gain per loop. Terrain is a mixture of farmland, single-track trail and woodland dirt tracks. The route is on private land and cannot be recceed before race day. The route will be fully waymarked.
A runners feed station at the start and finish provides drinking water, access to hot water, a toaster and a microwave; crew are permitted to prepare basic food there. Toilets are provided. GPS live tracking will be available and Event Safety Medical Group will be on site for medical needs. Camping and parking are available from Friday 17th September 2027 for runners and their crew only.
Participants receive a bespoke eco memento, including a packet of mixed wild flower seeds. All competitors except the final winner will receive a DNF wooden spoon.
