The Turbine Backyard Ultra : West Shields Farm, Satley (19 September 2026)
The event takes place at West Shields Farm, Satley, near Tow Law, Durham (what3words: pegs.puzzles.classmate). It is a new course for 2026. Minimum age to enter is 18. Entry options and fees: Solo £106, Team (up to 5 people) £450. Entries open 5 November 2025 and close 1 September 2026. Camping and parking are available from Friday 18 September 2026 for runners and their crew.
Format, course and on-site services
Competitors must complete a 4.1-mile loop on the hour, every hour, until one runner remains. Each loop has approximately 400 ft of elevation gain and follows farmland, single-track trail and woodland dirt tracks on private land. The bell is sounded on the hour; runners who are not in the starting area before the bell are disqualified and recorded as DNF. The remaining runner is the winner. Team scoring counts while at least two team members remain; once a team is reduced to one person, that person is classed as a solo runner.
On-site services include GPX live tracking from Geo Tracks, toilets, first aid cover, a runners feed station with hot and cold water, microwave and toaster for runners and their crew, marshals and route waymarking, a coffee vendor, bespoke eco memento for participants and prizes for last person standing, assist and last team standing.
