Event overview
The Drop - Newcastle is a navigation challenge run by The Drop UK on 22 November 2026. The event centre is at The Cosy Dove, 62 - 64 Hunters Road, Spital Tongues, Newcastle NE2 4NA. Entrants must be aged 18 or over on the event date.
Format and rules
Participants are transported blindfolded to an undisclosed drop location. At deployment they remove blindfolds and begin navigating back to the event centre on foot with no maps, no GPS, no compass, and no external assistance. At registration participants hand over electronic devices and watches and are issued a race number and a sealed emergency bag, which must remain intact or result in disqualification. Distances are measured as the crow flies; actual routes will be longer. The Drop 6 is restricted to non-locals and entries may be checked for local knowledge. Other rules include no unauthorised maps and no use of transport or shortcuts.

Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional, paid feature. Trackers are accurate to around 5 metres but can be affected by buildings and black spots and must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee will apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
