Event overview
The Trudge 5K takes place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina. The event is a timed 5K that commemorates the three miles clients at The Healing Place of New Hanover County walk daily as part of their recovery. The anniversary celebration after the 5K includes free brunch items (fruit, yogurt, breakfast sandwiches, coffee), live music, and community vendors.
Course and logistics
The course starts and finishes at The Healing Place, 1000 Medical Center Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, and is an out-and-back to Greenfield Lake on the Greenfield Lake multi-use trail. The course is stroller friendly. Parking is available at The Healing Place, with overflow parking across the street at Delaney Radiology. Entry fee is listed as $35. Registration is offered online and on race day; on-site registrants are asked to register digitally, for example by scanning a QR code.
Awards, swag, and cause
Participants receive a Trudge 5K shirt while supplies last and a finisher medal at the finish line. Awards include top three males and top three females overall, plus top male and female in the age groups 13 & under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Proceeds support The Healing Place of New Hanover County, which provides food, shelter, clothing, and recovery services at no cost; the organization opened February 1, 2023, and reports helping nearly 1,000 people withdraw from drugs and alcohol and admitting nearly 800 people into its long-term residential recovery program.
