Event overview

THE TRACK Australia takes place 12–21 May 2027 in the Northern Territory, between Alice Springs and Uluru. The event covers 520 km over 9 stages and 10 days. The route crosses the West MacDonnell National Park, continues toward Finke Gorge National Park and finishes near Uluru / Kata Tjuta National Park. Terrain includes pebbly and sandy tracks and single track. Daytime temperatures are expected between 20 and 30 °C and nighttime temperatures between 5 and 10 °C. During the race, participants sleep in tents, with two people per tent.

Race format and logistics

The event is run with food self-sufficiency. Each participant must carry their own food for the full 10 days, at least 2 000 kcal per day (minimum 20 000 kcal total). Food must be presented in two bags (Days 1–5 and Days 6–10) with similar weight (5% difference allowed) and documented calorie counts. Water is supplied at checkpoints and at bivouac, with distribution of about 8 to 12 liters per day; competitors must bring their own bidons. The course is marked and competitors receive a map; following the provided route is mandatory. There are time limits per stage (between 10 and 35 hours); competitors who do not meet a limit can continue and are classified by the kilometers completed. Compulsory equipment includes a backpack, sleeping bag, headlamps, compass, cooking kit and fuel tablets, first aid items, water containers and two bags of food.
