Event overview

THE TRACK Australia is a multi-day foot race in the Northern Territory of Australia, scheduled 12–21 May 2027. The route covers 520 km over 9 stages and 10 days, between Alice Springs and Uluru / Kata Tjuta National Park. The course crosses West MacDonnell National Park, continues toward Finke Gorge National Park and finishes near Uluru in the Anangu Aboriginal territory. Terrain includes pebbly and sandy tracks and single-track sections. Daytime temperatures are expected between 20 and 30 °C and nighttime temperatures between 5 and 10 °C.

Race format, logistics and requirements

Competition is food self-sufficient. Each participant must carry personal equipment checked before the race, including a backpack, sleeping bag, compass, knife, mirror, whistle, survival blanket, two headlamps with spare batteries, cooking kit with solid fuel tablets, medical kit, compression bands, two 1 L water bidons and two food bags covering five days each. Food requirement is 2 000 kcal per day (minimum 20 000 kcal for the event); food for days 6–10 is recovered at the end of day 5. Water is provided at checkpoints and bivouacs, typically 8 to 12 liters per day; participants must bring their own bidons. Stage time limits range from 10 to 35 hours; competitors who miss limits may continue and are classified by distance completed.
