Event Overview

THE TRACK Australia is a foot race covering 520 km over 10 days. The event consists of 9 stages and is food self-supported.

Course Details

The race takes place in the Australian Outback within the Northern Territory. It starts near Alice Springs and finishes near Uluru. The first half of the route passes through West MacDonnell National Park. The route then continues south through Finke Gorge National Park. The second half leads towards the Uluru / Kata Tjuta National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Aboriginal Anangu territory. The finish is near Uluru, a large monolith.

The terrain includes pebbly and sandy tracks, plus single track. Daytime temperatures are typically between 20 and 30 °C, with overnight temperatures between 5 and 10 °C.

Competition Format

The event has a limit time of between 10 and 35 hours per stage. Participants who cannot meet the limit time can remain in the race and will be classified according to the total kilometers they complete. Water is provided at checkpoints and bivouacs. Accommodation during the race is in shared tents.

Participant Requirements

Participants must carry all their own food for the 10 days, requiring a minimum of 20,000 calories. A specific list of compulsory equipment includes a backpack, sleeping bag, navigation tools, headlamps, cooking kit, and first aid supplies.
