Event overview
THE TRACK Australia is a multistage foot race held in the Northern Territory between Alice Springs and Uluru. The event runs from 12 to 21 May 2027 and covers 520 km over 9 stages and 10 days. The route crosses West MacDonnell National Park, Finke Gorge National Park and approaches Uluru / Kata Tjuta National Park, passing through Anangu Aboriginal territory. The finish line is located near Uluru. Terrain includes pebbly and sandy tracks and single track sections.
Practical information
The race is run under food self-sufficiency rules. Each competitor must carry ten days of food totalling a minimum of 20 000 kcal, presented in two bags (days 1-5 and days 6-10) with similar weight (5% difference accepted). Participants must present a list of calories for each bag at technical control. Organizers supply water at checkpoints and at bivouacs in the morning and evening, distributing between 8 and 12 liters per day per competitor; competitors must use their own 1-liter bidons or similar. Accommodation during the race is in two-person tents. Time limits per stage range from 10 to 35 hours; runners who exceed limits may remain in the race and will be ranked by distance completed. Mandatory equipment is checked before the race and includes items such as a backpack, sleeping bag, headlamps, navigation tools, basic cooking kit and water containers.
