The Tommy Run

The Tommy Run is a commemorative running event held in Seaham, County Durham, along the scenic seafront featuring roads, paths, promenade, and some trail sections. Starting at the Tommy War Memorial statue—a poignant sculpture of a WWI soldier—the event includes 5km and 10km race options, suitable for ages 11+ and 15+ respectively. The 5km course is on closed roads with minimal elevation, ideal for personal bests.

A minute of silence is observed before each race to honor the armistice. All finishers receive a medal, T-shirt, snack, and drink. Proceeds support the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
