The Tick, May 9, 2026
The Tick is a 57.41 mile point to point trail race through the Ocala National Forest, running from Alexander Springs State Park to the Rodman Reservoir Dam. The course follows singletrack on the Florida National Scenic Trail and crosses a variety of natural areas.
- 50 miles plus 7.41 mandatory bonus miles (total 57.41 miles)
Crew support is mandatory; the event is not self supported. Limited access to natural water sources along the route requires runners to have a dedicated crew. The longest distance between crew accessible locations is approximately 10.5 miles. All runners and crew must carry a reliable communication device. Runners are responsible for arranging transportation from the finish back to their vehicles.
Trail conditions include wetlands, uneven surfaces, and dense vegetation. The route passes lakes, prairies, marshes, and tall growth pine and hardwood forests. Weather in the region can be humid and hot. Wildlife in the forest may include deer, bobcats, black bears, hawks, eagles, scrub jays, rabbits, snakes, turtles, and ticks.
Registration opens February 15, 2026. The organizer does not offer refunds; registered runners may elect a rollover credit equal to 75 percent toward the following year if applied at least seven days before the event. Rerunning requires re registration for the next year to use the credit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
