The Teanaway Trail Run

The Teanaway Trail Run takes place on May 31, 2026, at Teanaway Community Forest near Cle Elum, Washington. The event offers multiple race distances on natural-surface trails and logging roads in a pine-filled valley with occasional views of neighboring valleys and Mt. Stuart.

Distances and elevation gain:

  • 5k : 280 feet (85 m) elevation gain
  • 10k : 675 feet (205 m) elevation gain
  • Half marathon : 1410 feet (430 m) elevation gain
  • Marathon : 2820 feet (860 m) elevation gain

The course follows primarily dirt logging roads of various ages, with smaller singletrack sections through scattered forest, meadows, and past sandstone slabs. The half marathon is a single large loop; the 5k and 10k follow the same loop with signed shortcuts; the marathon is two laps of the half marathon route.

Aid stations provide water, Scratch Labs hydration drink, and a selection of carbohydrate or salty foods such as cookies, energy bars, gels, chips, bagels, and bananas. Locations: 10k at 2.2 miles; half marathon at 2.2 and 7.7 miles; marathon at 2.2, 7.7, 13.1, 15.4, and 20.9 miles.

Parking and camping require a Discover Pass; one-day passes are not sold on-site. West Fork Teanaway Campground is a large free campground with pit toilets and no running water or power. Approximate driving times without traffic are roughly 1 hour 40 minutes from Seattle, 3 hours from Spokane, 4 hours from Portland, and 3 hours from Bellingham.

Course users may encounter hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians. Horses have the right of way. Dogs are not allowed on the course under USATF policy. Participants are responsible for their own safety and should plan accordingly; emergency services should be contacted by calling 9-1-1.
