Needles 50k, Easton WA

Needles is a point to point loop trail event offered in two distances:

  • 50K
  • 25K as a potential drop down option for 50K entrants

The route links Domerie Divide, Thomas Mountain, French Cabin Mountain, Little Joe Lake, Thorp Mountain, Kachess Ridge (also called The Cardiac Needles), and Silver Creek, with about 10,000 feet of total climb. The organizer provides no course markings and no aid stations. Untreated water is available at several creek and lake outlets on the route; runners are expected to carry their own food and water treatment. There are no onsite bathrooms and participants must follow Leave No Trace practices.

A GPX track will be emailed at least one week before the event and entrants are required to preload it into a map app and carry a phone with the course. Official finish validation depends on submitting a GPX track and supplying selfies at Thorp Mountain summit and other designated points to confirm completion. Entry requires a prior 50 mile trail finish within 12 hours. The start and finish location may change from previous years. Registration closes June 20 and 25K registration is delayed pending available space as of May 1.

A full refund of the entry fee is offered if an entrant is not completely satisfied with their experience. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
