The Tap 'er Light
The Tap 'er Light is a community running event in Butte, Montana held on July 10 at Leonard Field near Montana Tech. The event takes place alongside the Montana Folk Festival and celebrates the city's mining heritage.
Distances offered:
- 5K run/walk
- 10K run
The course highlights historic landmarks and views of Butte's landscape and passes mining artifacts such as the Original Mine, the Mountain Con, and the Granite Mountain Memorial. The event's theme draws on local mining history and the mining expression "tap 'er light," a phrase used to mean take it easy or be careful.
All participants receive a custom race shirt, custom race bib, custom lanyard, and a custom race sticker. The course is marked and timed with posted results, and aid station support is provided. Refreshments are available at the finish and a commemorative finisher item is offered.
Packet pick up and race check in are available at Quarry Brewing on Friday, July 9, and also on race morning at the start area. The start and finish are at Leonard Field adjacent to the Park Street entrance to Montana Tech. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
