Copper Kings 100 : Butte, Montana, June 26-27, 2026
The event is a 100-mile loop that starts and ends at the Belmont Mine in Butte and incorporates about 63 miles of the Continental Divide Trail. The course sits mostly above 6,500 feet; the start elevation is listed at 5,650 ft and the highest point reaches 8,400 ft. Participants face a total of 13,960 feet of vertical gain and loss over the loop.
Aid station spacing varies, with some stations spaced far apart and the longest unsupported segment exceeding 17 miles. Much of the climbing is concentrated between the first and last aid stations, which affects how the vertical gain is experienced on the course. The event uses a 40 hour overall cutoff and includes a nonbinary competition division.
Onward Endurance produces the race in partnership with a local endurance trail foundation. The course lies within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest and crosses Butte-Silver Bow and Jefferson counties; the event is permitted through the United States Forest Service and relevant county and state authorities.
Registration for 2026 is sold out and the runner cap is 150. A tiered withdrawal refund policy is published, with partial refunds available when cancellations are made well in advance and no refunds issued if the organizers cancel the event. Net proceeds benefit Our Lady of the Rockies, Mile High Nordic Ski Education Foundation, and the Continental Divide Trail Coalition.
Treeline Endurance is the official coaching partner and offers a free, race-specific 20 week training plan plus group runs and discounted coaching options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
