The Summit 200
The Summit 200 is a multi-day, non-repetitive 200-mile mountain race that loops around Summit County, Colorado. The route follows hiking trails, single-track and infrequently used forest roads, 4WD roads, recreation paths, and short sections of pavement.
The course stays at high elevation with the lowest points above 9,000 feet and sections surpassing 12,700 feet. Over the event runners encounter about 40,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain and long stretches without aid. The event has a 110 hour cutoff and requires a previous 100-mile finish for entry.
Event logistics include a small field cap initially set at 75 runners with a possible increase to 100, multiple full aid stations and four sleep stations, and drop bag support. Most aid stations offer made-to-order hot food with vegan options. Live GPS tracking is provided and participants will be issued a Garmin Messenger.
Deferral and refund rules are specified in the runner materials. Deferral credit is offered on a sliding scale up to 100 percent if requested 90 days prior, and deferral credit remains valid for three years and may be used for other Ultraverse events. The race takes place on National Forest and Summit County lands and is subject to permitting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
