MeadowGold 11K & 5K : Meadow Mountain, Minturn, Colorado
The MeadowGold 11K & 5K is the final race of the Vail Recreation District’s Vail Trail Running Series, presented by the Town of Minturn. It takes place on Meadow Mountain and uses a mix of singletrack and dirt trails that pass through mountain meadows, historic homesteads, and former lettuce farms and ski-area structures.
Distances:
- 11K (10.6 km course, 1,362 ft elevation gain, 80% singletrack)
- 5K (3.1 miles, 553 ft elevation gain, 40% singletrack)
The 11K route climbs technical singletrack on the West Grouse Trail with multiple stream crossings, wildflower fields, a high-point view of Vail Mountain and the Gore Range, then descends on Line Shack Trail back to the finish. The 5K follows Line Shack Trail for about 1.5 miles uphill through meadows and past old homesteads before a turnaround and descent to the finish.
Aid stations are positioned on course and provide water and Skratch Labs hydration drink; participants are asked to use reusable hydration when possible as the series emphasizes minimal waste. Racer parking is located at the Town of Minturn train yard across Highway 24; spectators may park at the train yard or the Grouse Creek Trailhead. Post-race offerings for participants include awards, raffle entry, race t-shirts, and food at the after-party location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
