About the Event
The Springbank Sprint marks its fifth annual edition. The event takes place at Springbank Park in London, Ontario, near 1205 Commissioners Road West.
Course and Distances
The event offers several races on the park's multi-use paved pathways, which are closed to vehicular traffic and run alongside the Thames River. The available distances are:
- 5 km run (sponsored by New Era Grafix)
- 10 km run (sponsored by BackRoads Brews + Shoes)
- 5 km walk
- 10 km walk
- Kids' runs: 50 metres, 100 metres, and 1 kilometre
The courses for the 5 km, 10 km, and 1 km kids' run are out-and-back routes. The 50 and 100 metre kids' runs are short point-to-point runs. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario.
Race Features
The 5 km and 10 km runs are chip-timed events. The kids' events are non-timed fun runs. Aid stations with water are provided on the course. Portable toilets and public washrooms are available at the start/finish area. Each participant in the adult races receives an event shirt and a special 5th Anniversary custom race medal. Kids also receive a race bib and a finisher's medal. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the female, male, and non-binary categories for the 5 km and 10 km runs, and to the top overall finisher in the walking events.
Fundraising
A portion of each 5 km and 10 km registration is donated to the Children's Health Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
