About the race
The Spinnaker Run is a community event held on November 1, 2026 at the Lewes Yacht Club on Cedar Street in Lewes, DE. The event benefits the Lewes Yacht Club Foundation, which funds local youth programming and scholarships in sailing, swimming, marine activities and education.
Distances offered:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Competitive Walking 5K (must walk the entire race; running or jogging not permitted)
- Non-competitive 1 mile walk
- Stay home on the couch virtual entry
Registration pricing listed for the regular period through November 1 includes a $35 fee for the 5K and for competitive walking, and $30 for the non-competitive 1 mile walk and the virtual entry. A higher fee applies on the morning of the event for certain categories.
Race amenities include unisex tee shirts, post-race refreshments, and music. Timing is provided by R2R Timing using the MYLAPS BibTag chip system. Top finisher awards for overall male and female and overall masters are scored by gun time, with all other age-group awards scored by chip time; awards include top finishers by 10-year age groups and top walkers.
Additional notes: day-of-race registration is available, bibs are non-transferable, no dogs are allowed due to insurance liability, and registrations are non-refundable. Results and photos will be posted online after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
