The Signal Run - You Are Not Alone
The Signal Run is a daylong movement focused on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Organized by Awareness Warriors Foundation, the event centers on a 32 mile route that moves toward the Zapata County Courthouse in Zapata, TX. The format emphasizes remembrance and solidarity rather than competition; the event is explicitly not a race.
Participants join at designated start locations along US-83 and proceed southbound toward the courthouse. Primary groups converge near the "Welcome to Zapata, Texas" sign before continuing together. The final community segment begins closer to the finish and is presented as a 1K walk to allow broader participation. The event uses a staggered, endurance format with assigned start points for each distance.
Distances offered include:
- 32 Mile Core Group
- Full Marathon 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles
- 10K 6.2 miles
- 5K 3.1 miles
- 1K Walk final community mile
Support measures mentioned include clear signage at starting points, volunteers, and support vehicles at designated locations. The event takes place in person on a single day and spans multiple hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
