The Shindig in the Shire
The Shindig in the Shire is a running event located in Telford, starting from The Unicorn Inn. The route takes participants through the historic areas of Ironbridge and Jackfield, offering views of the Ironbridge Gorge and the world famous bridge. The course follows a multi-lap format, utilizing local paths and the Silkin Way for the return sections.
Participants can choose from three different distance options based on the number of laps completed:
- 8 miles (1 lap)
- 16 miles (2 laps)
- 26.2 miles (3 laps)
The terrain includes various paths and features a few climbs. Finishers receive commemorative medals upon completion of their chosen distance. The start and finish area at the local inn provides access to food and refreshments following the event. The race is open to individual entrants, with the marathon distance specifically for those aged 18 and older, while the shorter distances are open to those aged 17 and over.
