The Ship Inn Shuffle
The Ship Inn Shuffle is an out and back trail run starting on the cliffs at Sewerby and following the coast past Danes Dyke out towards Flamborough. The route finishes at the Ship Inn where participants collect hot or cold food from the Blue Savannah van or, once the pub opens, from the pub; vegetarian and gluten free options are available.
The course runs through fields, woodland and trail and is generally undulating. It includes a number of steps and a couple of stiles. Distances offered include:
- 10k
- Half marathon
- Marathon
Feed and drink stations are provided at approximately three mile intervals. The event operates a cup-less approach so runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle. The route is signposted and marshals are positioned along the course, but not every junction will be marshalled; downloadable GPX files are available to help with navigation. There may be unmarshalled road crossings.
Organisational details include a 6.5 hour cut off for all distances, licence from the Trail Running Association, and the ability to self-serve transfers or deferrals up to 48 hours before the event. Start, finish, registration and parking are located behind the Ship Inn on Cliff Road, Sewerby; parking at the back of the pub is a cash only charge of £5 and council charges apply in other nearby car parks.
