The Woldsman
The Woldsman is a long-distance event organized by the LDWA East Yorkshire, taking place in the scenic Yorkshire Wolds. Participants start and finish at the Driffield Showground in East Yorkshire. The event offers two distinct distances over the course of a weekend:
- 30 Miles
- 50 Miles
The 50 mile course has a specific time limit of 20 hours for completion. A designated cut-off point is established at the 25 mile mark in Thixendale. The event is open to both walkers and runners, with staggered start windows provided for each group. Participants must be at least 18 years old to enter.
The route is supported by checkpoints providing food and drink, and participants are required to bring a personal mug as no cups are provided. Mandatory safety equipment includes specific Ordnance Survey maps (Explorer 294, 295, and 300), a compass, waterproofs, a first aid kit, a survival bag, and extra warm clothing.
Facilities at the Driffield Showground include free car parking for participants. Limited camping space is also available on-site from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. Upon finishing the event, participants receive a badge, a certificate, and a meal. Retirements during the event are only permitted at official checkpoints.
