Event details

The MTC Severn Plod Ultra is a point-to-point ultramarathon of 48 miles scheduled for 9 July 2026. The event is billed as the 10th edition. The route starts at Mid Wales Art Centre, Maesmawr, SY17 5SB, and finishes at the Premier Inn in Shrewsbury, SY1 1PG. Total ascent is listed as 650 metres and total descent as 581 metres. Route, checkpoints and services

The route follows sections away from and alongside the River Severn and the Montgomery Canal Walk, passing features such as Dolerw Park, the Gorsedd stone circle, Pwll Penarth Nature Reserve, Welshpool, Offa’s Dyke Path, the Breidden Hills, Montford Bridge and Bicton before reaching Shrewsbury. The race has four checkpoints. Checkpoint food is offered with options for Vegan and Gluten Free; competitors may also supply named food bags for specific checkpoints. Events are cup-free and competitors should bring a reusable cup.

Entry, rules and kit

Standard solo entry is listed at £90 and payments are non-refundable. Competitors must maintain a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph or they will be required to withdraw. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, Ordnance Survey Map 150 or equivalent, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit.
