Event details

The MTC Severn Path Ultra is a point-to-point ultra running event held on 10 July 2026. The listed distance is 59 miles and the course is described as largely flat, following the River Severn for much of the route. The race starts at the Premier Inn, Shrewsbury (SY1 1PG) and finishes in Worcester City, concluding near Travelodge Worcester (WR1 2QS). The route passes through or near Atcham, Cressage, Buildwas, Ironbridge, Jackfield, Coalport, Apley Forge, Bridgnorth, Hampton, Upper Arley, Bewdley, Stourport, and Holt Heath. Total ascent is given as 786 metres and total descent as 816 metres. This is the 10th edition of the event.

Logistics and rules

There are four checkpoint stations along the route. Competitors must maintain a minimum pace of 4.0 mph or they will not be allowed to continue. Vegan and gluten-free options can be selected at registration for checkpoint food; competitors who require other special foods must provide and label their own supplies for each checkpoint. The organisers recommend using GPX files for navigation as sections of the path can be overgrown or unsigned. Entrants must arrange return transport from the finish and note that car parking is not available at the start or finish hotels. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, map (Ordnance Survey 150 accepted), compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. All finishers receive a bespoke Severn Path Ultra medal and a head visor. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
