Event details
The Rugged Raccoon Night Race takes place on May 2, 2026 at Wildwood Conservation Area, Line 9, Saint Marys, Ontario. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and includes both day and night options. There are three distance options:
- 10 km
- 25 km
- 50 km
The 10 km is an out-and-back route. The 50 km is a double loop of the 25 km course; the organizer notes the 25 km loop measures closer to 24 km, so the 50 km is roughly 48 km.
Course and logistics
The race is on trail with rocks, roots, some climbs, lake views, and sections that are long and relatively flat. Early-May conditions often include muddy sections. Night running requires a headlamp or flashlight; a minimum of 100 lumens is required and 200 lumens or more is recommended, with a headlamp preferred. The event is cup-less; runners must bring a collapsible cup or bottle for aid stations.
There are four full aid stations located at approximately 4.5 km, 10 km, 15 km, and 20 km. Aid station supplies include water, an electrolyte drink, PB & J, and sweet and salty snacks. Race inclusions listed by the organizer include a shirt (unisex or women's cut), a small bib, chip timing, other race items, and a medal. Camping is available at Wildwood via park booking. The event supports Ontario Nature. The organizer offers a race credit refund policy up to 30 days before the event and allows bib transfers up to 5 days before the event.
