The Rugged Raccoon Night Race 2026
The event takes place on May 2, 2026 at Wildwood Conservation Area in St. Marys, Ontario. It is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and offers both day and night trail options.
The course runs on natural singletrack with rocks and roots and is likely to have mud in early May. There are some climbs but the route is not presented as very hilly. Runners will encounter long, winding flat sections and lake views.
Distances offered:
- 10 km out-and-back on the new route introduced in 2023.
- 25 km single loop around the lake.
- 50 km two loops of the 25 km course, with the measured distance slightly under 50 km.
There are four full aid stations at 4.5 km, 10 km, 15 km and 20 km; 10 km runners will pass one aid station at the turnaround. The event is cup-less so participants must bring a collapsible cup or bottle for refills. All night runners must carry a headlamp or flashlight with at least 100 lumens; 200 lumens or more is recommended and a headlamp is strongly encouraged. La Sportiva will attend with a demo shoe fleet and will give away two pairs of shoes at each event.
Race inclusions listed by the organizer include a shirt (unisex or women’s cut), a bib, chip timing, race goodies and a medal. The event supports Ontario Nature. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
