The Relentless
This event takes place at the Bridgend Miniature Railway in Bridgend, South Wales. It is a multi-lap ultra marathon organized by Mad Running Junkies. Runners choose between two distances: a 50-mile or a 100-mile race.
The race format involves running a 10-mile loop course. For the 50-mile event, runners must complete 5 laps; for the 100-mile event, 10 laps are required. Time limits are provided: 24 hours for the 50-mile distance and 45 hours for the 100-mile distance. The 100-mile course has approximately 7,000 feet of total elevation gain, while the 50-mile course has roughly 3,500 feet.
The event features a central hub at the start/finish area, which serves as a lap checkpoint. Support includes a fully stocked aid station with food and hydration, medical support, a drop-bag access and crew zone, and a sleep station.
Awards are given for both distances. All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Additional prizes include a bespoke trophy for the top three male and female runners in each distance. Unique to the 100-mile finishers is a commemorative ring instead of a traditional belt buckle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
