Event Overview

The Railway Ultra is a multi-distance running event held along the banks of the River Severn. It takes place on a disused railway line between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. Participants can choose from five different distances.

Distances and Course

The available distances are:

  • 9 miles
  • 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
  • 19 miles (3/4 Marathon)
  • 28 miles
  • 37 miles

The course consists of out-and-back laps, with each lap measuring 9.4 miles. The route offers views of the river and passes remnants of the area's industrial heritage.

Event Details

A well-stocked aid station is available every 4.7 miles. The event has a total time limit of 7 hours. The 37-mile distance has a different start time from the other four distances.

Venue and Facilities

The event headquarters is located on the disused railway line behind The Woodbridge Public House in Coalport (TF8 7JF). Parking is available at the Coalport China Museum and Coalport YHA, which is a 10-minute walk from the start (charges apply).
