The Rabid Squirrel
The Rabid Squirrel is a trail running event on August 1, 2026 in Danbury, North Carolina. The course is about 11ish miles with roughly 1600 feet of uphill gain and about 2400 feet of downhill.
The route includes two rock scrambles and a third of a mile spent in a river. Runners will summit the Tower of Moores, pass the House of Rock, and see the Stone Wolf along the way.
Aid stations are planned at miles 2.3, 4.5, 5.5, 7, and 8.5. Volunteers will staff aid stations and assist with shuttles, but car capacity is limited and no shuttle bus is planned for this edition.
The event starts at the lake and finishes at the Green Heron Ale House. Participants are asked to arrange transport to or from the start and finish due to limited shuttle capacity.
