The Rabid Squirrel
The Rabid Squirrel is a trail running event near Danbury, North Carolina, at 1110 Flinchum Rd. The route begins at the lake and finishes at the Green Heron Ale House, passing river and rock features on natural terrain.
The course is approximately 11ish miles with about 1600 ft of ascent and 2400 ft of descent. The route includes two rock scrambles and about a third of a mile spent in the river. Along the way participants will summit the Knob of Moores, pass the Hour of Rock, and see the Stone Wolf.
Organizers plan aid stations at miles 2.3, 4.5, 5.5, 7, and 8.5. Participants are asked to arrange a ride to or from the start and finish locations; volunteers will provide limited shuttling but there is no shuttle bus this year.
