Event overview
The Quest! is a fantasy-themed trail run in Auburn, California on March 7, 2026. The event is based at the Auburn Alehouse Annex, 103 Sacramento St, Auburn, CA 95603. Distances offered:

The 16-mile route is a minimum of 16 miles with upwards of 1,500 ft of elevation gain. The 6-mile route is a minimum of 6 miles with upwards of 500 ft of elevation gain. Routes are not published in advance and will remain secret until event day.
Format, gear and scoring
Participants roll virtually to determine a character class; the roll is recorded and assigns class abilities that affect quest outcomes. Each participant receives a custom D20, a t-shirt, a trail map with quest details, and a post-run beer from Auburn Alehouse. Required or recommended personal gear includes a camera phone (required for some side quests), a backpack, and a water bottle.
The event includes 16 designed side quests and multiple "boss" encounters (Fairie, Wizard, Dragon, Goblin). A baseline 40 minutes is added to each runner's overall time at finish; each completed side quest reduces the adjusted time by at least 5 minutes. Parties of up to four runners are allowed (limit one party per person) and party membership is verified after the event.
