The Purbeck Marathon
The Purbeck Marathon is a trail running event in Swanage, Purbeck, scheduled for 20th September 2026. The event offers two distances: a full marathon and a 16 mile race. Both distances are licensed by the Trail Running Association and will follow UK Athletics rules. Entry fees listed are £50 for the marathon and £40 for the 16 mile race; a Trail Running Association fee of £2 applies unless the entrant is a TRA or UKA member, plus payment processing fees.
The route runs along the Jurassic Coast and through the Purbeck Hills, passing features such as the abandoned village of Tyneham and the ruins of Corfe Castle. The event notes local volunteer support and charity fundraising as part of the race experience. A course cutoff of 7 hours 11 minutes is applied and the minimum age for entry is 18.
Bib collection is available in Swanage the afternoon before at the Planet Purbeck Festival on Shore Road, and also at the race start on the day of the event. Early bird booking ends 31st March 2026 and registration closes at midnight on 13th September 2026.
Mandatory kit includes a running vest or belt, capacity to carry 500 ml water, a GPS device with the route uploaded, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket and a whistle.
