The Priory Ultra : 100 km coastal route
The Priory Ultra is a waymarked, point to point 100 km race along the Northumberland coast, running from Bamburgh Castle to Tynemouth Priory. The route passes coastal towns and landmarks including Beadnell Harbour, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster Village, Warkworth Castle, Seaton Sluice, Whitley Bay and Cullercoats.
The event is fully supported and offers six well-stocked feed stations at Low Newton, Boulmer, Warkworth Beach, Druridge Bay, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea and Blyth. Feed stations provide VOOM Bars and VOOM Hydration plus fruit, sweets, chocolate and savoury snacks. There is extensive medical cover and marshals at key points along the route. All runners are tracked, and a bag drop at registration transfers bags to the finish. The event uses a 24-hour cut off and is organised as an A to B race so runners must make their own way to the start.
Mandatory kit includes water or fluids, a charged mobile phone with emergency contacts, food or gels, a headtorch and a lightweight jacket. All finishers receive a metal event medal, event merchandise and food and drink at the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
