The Enchanted Ultra 50K
The Enchanted Ultra 50K is an ultra-marathon event set in the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland. Starting and finishing in Wooler, the course follows a digital route through remote regions of northern England. Participants navigate the terrain using a GPS device and a provided waterproof map, with a total time limit of 11 hours to complete the distance.
The route features varied terrain, including ancient forests, bogs, valleys, and open moorlands. Runners encounter steep ascents and descents on mixed surfaces, such as grassy trails, rocky paths, and dense woodlands. Notable landmarks along the course include:

The journey begins at The Mart in Wooler, passing Humbleton Hill to join St Cuthberts Way. The route leads past the Yeavering Bell hillfort to the first checkpoint at Hethpool at the 10-mile mark. From there, runners follow the College Valley toward Mounthooley and climb the Cheviot, passing near the Hen Hole chasm. After descending via Harthope Burn, the course reaches the second checkpoint at Langleeford at 22 miles. The final segment returns to Wooler via Coldlaw, Snear Hill, and Earl.
The event includes medical cover and marshals at various points. Participants have access to two fully stocked aid stations and receive soup and sandwiches at the finish line. Registration is open to individuals aged 18 and older. Entry fees cover a GPS tracker, a finisher's medal, and a certificate.
