The Piasa Trail Races
The event name references a mythical creature from the Illiniwek (Algonquian) language often translated as "the bird that devours humans." The race draws on that local legend for its identity but is staged as a trail running event in Illinois.
The Piasa II is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, 2027, at Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton, IL. The event offers three trail distances:
- 12.5k
- 25k
- 50k
The course runs through rugged bluffs and forested ravines. The footing is technical, descents require concentration, and short climbs do not exist on these trails. Course maps are provided for each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
