The Big Elf Run
The Big Elf Run is a holiday-themed event held at Lumberman's Arch in Stanley Park, Vancouver. The course offers a scenic route through the park, passing under old oak trees and along the seawall with views of Coal Harbour and the Burrard Inlet. The paths are primarily paved with very few inclines, designed to accommodate participants of various abilities.
The event features three distinct distances:
- 10 km Big Elf Run (consisting of two loops)
- 5 km Big Elf Run or Walk
- 1 km Wee Elf Run or Walk
This event is pet and stroller friendly, provided these participants start in the final wave to maintain safety on the course. A course cut-off time of two hours is in place. For the 5 km and 10 km distances, chip timing is provided, while the 1 km event features a finish line clock.
Participants receive an elf toque, a wooden medal produced in British Columbia that serves as a tree ornament, and a bib that can be customized with an "elf name" if registered by the mid-November deadline. On-site amenities at the start and finish area include a DJ, prize giveaways, and a bag check service. The run takes place rain or shine, and participants are encouraged to dress for the weather.
