The Big Elf Run
The Big Elf Run is a holiday-themed run taking place on Saturday, December 12, 2026, in Vancouver. This marks the 12th annual edition of the event.
The run is held at Lumberman's Arch in Stanley Park. The course winds through the park's trails and along the seawall, offering views of Coal Harbour and the Burrard Inlet. The route is mainly paved with few inclines.
Three distances are offered:
- A 1 km run/walk (Wee Elf Run/Walk) starting at 1:00 p.m.
- A 5 km run/walk (Big Elf Run/Walk).
- A 10 km run (Big Elf Run) consisting of two loops of the 5 km course.
The start for the 5 km and 10 km events is at 2:00 p.m. The event is open to all ages and abilities. Leashed pets and strollers are permitted but must start in the last wave for the safety of other participants. The course has a 2-hour cut-off time.
Chip timing is provided for the 5 km and 10 km events. Registration includes a customizable bib (elf name), an elf toque, and a wooden medal that doubles as a tree ornament. A 15% group discount is applied for registering 4 or more participants in one transaction, and a discounted entry fee is available for participants under 18 in the 5 km or 10 km.
The event features a DJ, an "elfie station", prize giveaways, and vendors. Packet pickup is available in advance on several dates at Kintec stores in Burnaby, North Vancouver, and Vancouver, or onsite on event day with a convenience fee. Bag check is available (one small bag per participant, while space lasts).
