57th OMM 2026
The OMM is a two day, self reliant mountain marathon held in Scotland on 24 and 25 October 2026. Teams plan their own routes from a supplied Harvey map each day, navigate by map and compass and carry all kit needed for an overnight campsite between the two days. Courses are offered in two formats: linear courses require visiting specified controls in order and the fastest team wins; score courses allow teams to choose which controls to visit within a time limit to gain points.
Course examples and guide distances:
- Elite: Day 1 47 km / 2200 m, Day 2 38 km / 1800 m
- A Course: Day 1 36 km / 1650 m, Day 2 29 km / 1350 m
- B Course: Day 1 25 km / 1100 m, Day 2 20 km / 900 m
Mandatory safety and team rules include staying together and sleeping in the same tent, carrying specified kit and emergency rations, and completing an online kit check. Mobile phones and GPS devices may be carried but must not be used for navigation. Timing tags and trackers are issued and must be returned. The event depends on around 150 volunteers, places roughly 100 controls across a 150 to 300 km2 area, and employs an independent ecologist to assess each event area. The OMM operates on a not for profit basis. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
