The Olmsted 5K at Shawnee Park
The Olmsted 5K at Shawnee Park is a running and walking event held in Louisville, Kentucky. The course takes participants through a historic park designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. The route features green spaces, paths lined with trees, and views of the Ohio River. The event consists of a single distance:
- 5K run/walk
This race is held in conjunction with the Derby City Omnium weekend, a local festival focused on cycling and fitness. Following the completion of the footrace, the venue hosts competitive circuit cycling races. This allows participants to observe high-speed bike racing within the same park setting after finishing their own event.
The race utilizes chip timing to provide results for all participants. Registered runners and walkers receive a t-shirt as part of their entry. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers. Post-race refreshments are provided on-site. The event is located at 4501 W Broadway, utilizing the natural landscape of Shawnee Park for the entirety of the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
