The Newcastle Winter Warmer Run
The Newcastle Winter Warmer Run takes place at Exhibition Park and the Town Moor in Newcastle. This event is designed to help participants maintain motivation and training focus throughout the winter months. The event supports the charity Shelter to help raise awareness and funds for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The course is primarily flat and follows paths, though one section consists of a stone and trail surface. Depending on the chosen distance, participants complete a set number of laps:
- 5k: One lap.
- 10k: Two laps.
- Half Marathon: Four laps plus an additional 1.1 km section.
The route is wheelchair accessible and suitable for running with buggies, noting the trail section. The event uses chip timing via a chip on the race bib, and results are displayed instantly on screens at the finish line. Registration and race pack collection occur on the morning of the event at the event hub.
Participants receive a medal upon completion, and trophies are awarded to winners. The event hub provides limited bag storage, toilets, and a selection of coffee and snacks for purchase. Marshals are stationed throughout the course to provide support.
Location and Travel
The event hub is located on the grass area near the entrance to the Town Moor. There is no parking available within the park, and visitors are encouraged to use public transport.
