Event overview
The Moors the Merrier is a winter walk and race on Saturday 13 December 2025, starting and finishing at Hebden Bridge Golf Club (Great Mount, Wadsworth, Hebden Bridge, HX7 8PH). The main course is 21 miles with about 3900 ft of ascent. The event is open to participants aged 18 or older. Entry is limited to 275 places; the event is currently full and a waiting list is in place. Entry fees are £33 (affiliated) and £35 (non-affiliated). The event is run under UKA rules and is licensed with the Trail Running Association and the Fell Runners Association. OpenTracking is used for live tracking and live results.
Route and navigation
The anti-clockwise route crosses Midgley Moor, Wadsworth Moor, Heptonstall Moor and Erringden Moor, finishing with a climb back to the golf club. The route is not flagged and requires navigational skills; GPS devices are allowed as a safety backup. A GPX file and a written route description are available. Participants must follow the route description and visit all checkpoints in the correct order.
Facilities and mandatory kit
The venue provides changing rooms with showers, and the clubhouse offers food and drink before and after the event. The event includes checkpoints and a hot meal at the finish. As it is a winter event, participants must carry specified kit, including a Santa hat and a present (value max £5) for the bran tub, waterproofs (top and bottoms) with taped seams and a hood, hat and gloves, map, compass and whistle, spare clothing and food, survival bag and headtorch.
