The Moors the Merrier (13 December 2025)
The event is a 21-mile circular walk or run around the moors of Hebden Bridge, with 21 miles distance and about 3,900 ft of ascent. It starts and finishes at Hebden Bridge (Mount Skip) Golf Club, Great Mount, Wadsworth, Hebden Bridge, HX7 8PH. The anti-clockwise route passes over Midgley Moor, Wadsworth Moor, Heptonstall Moor and Erringden Moor before returning to the golf club. The event offers both a competitive race and a walkers/non-competitive class. Race entry is restricted to those aged 18 or older; under‑18s may join the walkers class only if accompanied by an adult. Entries are limited to 275 and entry fees for 2025 are £33 (affiliated) or £35 (non‑affiliated). Tracking is provided by OpenTracking and live results are available.
Route, facilities and mandatory kit
The course is not flagged and requires navigation; a GPX file, route description and a bad‑weather route are provided. Checkpoints are fully supported. The clubhouse provides changing rooms and showers, tea and coffee, and a hot meal after the event (pie and peas and additional sweet items); the bar will be open. Seasonal requirements include a Santa hat and a present for the bran tub (value max £5). Mandatory kit includes waterproof jacket and trousers (taped seams, hood), hat and gloves, map, compass and whistle, survival bag, headtorch, spare long‑sleeve top, spare food and drink; a plastic mug for hot drinks is optional.
