Event overview

The Moors the Merrier is a winter walk or run held on 13 December 2025 around the moors of Hebden Bridge. The course is a 21-mile circular route with about 3900 ft of ascent, starting and finishing at Hebden Bridge (Mount Skip) Golf Club. The anti-clockwise route crosses Midgley Moor, Wadsworth Moor, Heptonstall Moor and Erringden Moor and finishes with a climb back to the golf club. The event is run under UKA rules and is licensed with the Trail Running Association and the Fell Runners Association.

Practical information

The venue provides changing rooms with showers, food and drink, and a club house bar. The entry limit is 275 and the 2025 fees are £33 (affiliated) and £35 (unaffiliated); entries may be placed on a waiting list when the event is full. OpenTracking is used for live tracking and results. The route is not flagged and navigational skills are required; a GPX file and a written route description are provided. Participants must visit all checkpoints in order and GPS devices are allowed only as a safety backup.

Mandatory kit includes a Santa hat and a wrapped present (maximum £5) for the bran tub, waterproofs top and bottom with taped seams and hood, hat and gloves, map, compass and whistle, survival bag, spare clothing and food, headtorch, and a plastic mug if desired.
