Event Format
The Mills Miles is a one-time event in a "Last Runner Standing" format, taking place at Powder Horn Lodge in Powder Mills Park, Pittsford. Each participant runs repeated 1-mile loops. There are mass starts for each lap with a pre-determined time cutoff; missing a cutoff eliminates a runner from continuing. There are 25 such laps with progressively faster cutoffs, followed by a final 26th lap which is an all-out race for the remaining participants. Final rankings credit runners for every lap they complete, even if finished after a cutoff time.
Course Details
The course is a 1-mile trail loop within Powder Mills Park. It begins with a short run across an open field toward a creek, followed by a bottleneck onto a narrow single-track section with a small hill. The trail then widens and rolls through the park. The final quarter-mile is a gentle downhill on wide trails.
Logistics and Amenities
The event includes a transition area next to the start/finish for personal gear and an aid station. Post-race activities include a BBQ and beverages. The race has a "show up when you can" option, allowing late arrivals to join at the start of the next lap. Some proceeds are donated to TrailsROC for trail maintenance.
