The Metropolitan 5K - Juneteenth Celebration
The Metropolitan 5K is a community running event held in Atlanta to mark Juneteenth. The event is organized by E.F.F.E.C.T Fitness and Cause of E.F.F.E.C.T, a 501(c)(3), and is described as the sixth annual edition. The event location is 1995b Metropolitan Parkway Southwest, Atlanta, GA 30315.
The program includes an in person 5K, a virtual 5K that can be completed anywhere, a kids fun run, and a Senior Walk for registrants age 65 and older. The virtual option allows participants to submit results and photos and includes a commemorative t shirt and medal after the event.
Race amenities listed for the event include a race day t shirt and a race medal for the first 1300 registrants or finishers, age group finisher awards, and awards for overall male and female finishers and top male and female finishers in each age group. Award winners are based on net time and only timed runners qualify.
Proceeds support programming such as a Back 2 School Drive and a Holiday Giveback with Atlanta Public School students. Bib and t shirt pick up is scheduled on dates before race weekend at E.F.F.E.C.T Fitness and at Big Peach South Fulton. There is no parking at E.F.F.E.C.T Fitness on race day and parking is available at Metro Lane Fun Center on a first come first serve basis.
