The Memorial Day Mile : Columbia City
The Memorial Day Mile is a point to point, one mile road race held in Columbia City on 05/25/2026. The course follows Van Buren Street, beginning a block west of Running Around Screen Printing at 227 West Van Buren Street and finishing at the Whitley County YMCA. The route is described as downhill and runs east along Van Buren Street to the YMCA finish area.
Post race refreshments and awards are provided at the finish line. A local vendor, Moo-Over, will distribute plant based ice creme for finishers. All finishers receive a commemorative finisher coin.
Parking is available across Columbia City and at the YMCA finish; participants are asked to avoid parking along Van Buren Street, which serves as the start line and parade route. A registration fee of $15.00 is listed for the race.
Cash prizes are awarded to overall winners. Award categories include Overall Male and Female, Overall Masters Male and Female, 2nd and 3rd place male and female, and a new Grand Masters 50 plus Male and Female category with prize money. The organizers reported a 2025 prize pool of $600 with individual payouts including $75 for winners, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. Overall awards are based on gun time.
